Have you heard about Free Shipping Day? Surprisingly, us at Centsible.net didn't hear about it UNTIL today (and we're shopping online EVERY day professionally!!). This one really took us by surprise, but its still going on, so we've got time to cover it!

What IS Free Shipping Day?

These free shipping offers are available to orders shipping to the continental United States only and are valid today, December 17, through 11:59pm EST. The offer applies to in-stock merchandise only and at current count, there are 744 merchants participating in this event. Some retailers require a minimum spend to redeem free shipping, others are offering free shipping across the board. The first ever 'free shipping day' was held on December 18, 2008. All free shipping options at Buy.com will no longer get your order delivered in time, and sports and bags orders do not qualify for Christmas delivery with standard shipping. Ground shipping at Famous Footwear costs $4.50 for one or two pairs of shoes. When you purchase 3 or more pairs or you are a "Gold REWARDS" member, your standard shipping order has free shipping.

The Swiss Colony Shipping Costs

Place your Swiss Colony order today, December 15, for regular delivery and still get it delivered in time for Christmas. When shopping online at The Swiss Colony, you'll want to check out their new "Postpaid" gift collection. This group of products already has shipping and postage included in the rate: what you see is what you get on the charge. The Postpaid collection usually features a reduced rate on the shipping charges applied as well. Finally, as if this wasn't enough reason to order Swiss Colony holiday classics today, Swiss Colony is offering an early bird discount to orders placed by today, Wednesday, December 15. Typically, this "early bird" discount is about 10%.

Standard Swiss Colony shipping charges are $3.95 for orders totaling up to $15. After that, your shipping charge will increase by $2 for every additional $10 of product you order until your order total reaches $50. We've had a few requests for information on shipping to APO/FPO addresses, particularly regarding free shipping. We're doing our best to compile a good listing for you and would LOVE to put together a separate page focusing on APO/FPO friendly companies. While we're compiling this though, we'd like to feature a few companies we know of that ARE offering free shipping to APO/FPO addresses.

Hickory Farms

Hickory Farms always offers free shipping to APO/FPO addresses. In fact, Hickory Farms offers a special 'Military Gifts' section of pre-selected items that will be permissable for APO/FPO deliveries, taking all of the guesswork out for you!

The Swiss Colony

While The Swiss Colony does still charge regular shipping charges for orders shipping to APO/FPO addresses, they've waived the $5 surcharge normally applied to these orders. Shipping charges at The Swiss Colony are based upon the total dollar value of the merchandise ordered, as well as the order's destination and speed of delivery requested, with rates ranging from $3.95 for continental US orders of $15 and under shipping via standard delivery up to 11% of the merchandise total of the order for those totaling $385 or more. All orders shipped outside of the continental United States are shipped by air: there is no expedited shipping available for APO/FPO addresses as it is all air shipping.

Timberland

Timberland always offers free shipping for APO/FPO orders. Timberland advises online shoppers to order by December 21 to ensure timely holiday delivery for orders with standard shipping, but we assume they are referring to orders shipping to the 48 contiguous United States. In fact, Timberland states that you should allow extra time for APO/FPO deliveries as they are all performed by the USPS. Finally, Timberland does not claim responsibility for your package once it reaches the APO/FPO processing center.

Hopefully this information gives you a few ideas of shipping options for those at APO/FPO addresses this Christmas. When your purchase totals $250 or more your shipping is free. Orders totaling under $250 ship for only $7.95 via standard shipping. Online jewelers Netaya and ICE.com are other ones that always offer free shipping to orders within the United States. While not offering free shipping as a standard, online jeweler diamond.com is offering free shipping for orders shipping with the 48 contiguous United States. The diamond.com free shipping promotion is good for all orders between November 12 and December 22. So, free shipping appears to be the de facto standard for online jewelers on most days of the year, but certainly on Cyber Monday.

Cyber Monday Featured Discounts

Only a few online jewelers are offering across the board discounts for Cyber Monday. Zales is giving an extra 10% discount sitewide.
